Winter Football Program

2025 Competition Information

Gladesville Sharks FC participates in winter football seasons operated by the regional association, North West Sydney Football (NWSF), utilising fields at Morrison Bay Park as our home ground. Please use the following details as a guide only.

Competition breakdown by Gender, Age, and Division

The association runs two gender-based competitions across all age groups:

MIXED COMPETITION

Mixed Competition, comprised teams that can be made up of both males and females (in youth teams, boys and girls, and in senior teams, men and women)

WOMEN'S COMPETITION

Women’s Competition, comprised team that are exclusively made up of females (in youth teams, girls, and in senior teams, women)
Each competition is broken down into the following age groups:
Youth
mixed and female
  • MiniRoos – U05, U06, U07, U08, U09, U10, U11
  • Junior – U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18
Senior
mixed and female
  • Opens – Premier League
  • Opens – Super League
  • Opens – All Age (AA)
Senior
Female only
  • Overs – O30 and O40
  • Masters – O40 (Friday only)
Senior
MIXED ONLY​
  • Overs – O35, O45, and O55
  • Masters – O50 (Friday only)

Each age group competition is further divided into a series of divisions.

Divisions, ranked from highest (most skilled) to lowest (most social/casual) are calculated based on a teams performance and ability in previous seasons, and starts from Division 1.

The number of divisions in each age group is a reflection of how many teams participate in the competition.

Season Outline

Traditionally, the season encompasses the following periods:

From February to late March/early April, involving:

  • Trial matches
  • Team training
  • Team grading (if applicable/required)

From late March/early April to late August/early September, involving:

  • Regular season matches
    • Friday night – female and mixed masters (night only)
    • Saturday morning – mixed youth teams
    • Saturday afternoon – mixed senior teams
    • Sunday morning – female youth teams
    • Sunday afternoon – female and mixed senior teams
  • Team training
  • Professional coaching
  • Finals Series matches (if applicable)
    Played in various formats depending on the competition structure between the teams finishing in the top 4 at the end of the regular season
  • Pennant Series matches (if applicable)
    Played as a 3-week round robin between the teams who did not finish in the top 4 at the end of the regular season
  • Championship Match (grand finals)
    Played between the teams who finished 1st and 2nd at the end of the regular season or, if completed, who qualified for the grand final as a result of the Finals Series.

Team Structure Information

The Club encourages all its teams to be formed or developed through friends and families, and will assist in allocating new players to the Club to most suitable teams. The Club also encourages any new player to join the Club.

In accordance with this policy, the Club may request that a new player be added to a suitable team for the duration of the season.

Please find below a breakdown of the advised number of total players Gladesville Sharks FC recommends teams have, or plan on having, for the duration of the winter football season. Please note the Club will always ensure the minimum number of players, as required by the association, will be met. Teams may fill their squad with registered players to whatever number is considered adequate.
